LADIES’ CHRISTMAS TEA CELEBRATES 47TH YEAR

2022-ladies-tea-poster-final-7

The Ladies’ Christmas Tea began forty-nine years ago when a handful of women gathered in the home of Joanne LaRue to begin a Christmas tradition that has now spanned over four decades. These women were concerned that the real meaning and reason for celebrating Christmas (the birth of Christ) was getting lost in the hustle and bustle of the season. That handful of women rapidly outgrew LaRues’ home; it then moved to the basement of the First Baptist Church, the old Rec Hall, the high school cafeteria and now at the Valdez Civic Center where it has accommodated the 200+ women who regularly attend.

The Tea celebrates the season with an assortment of entertainment, special music, group singing of Christmas carols, door prizes, a guest speaker, wonderful Christmas refreshments and lots of fun!

We have all come to view the Ladies’ Christmas Tea as the event that hallmarks the beginning of the Christmas season here in Valdez. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions we were unable to celebrate the Tea the last two years, but this year we are back celebrating our 47th year! All ladies 10 years and older are invited to attend!
