GMS WRESTLING: TANANA INVITE

Courtesy of GMS Coaches – The Gilson Middle School Husky wrestling team wrapped up their season this past weekend at the annual Tanana wrestling invitational, which is considered the unofficial middle school state wrestling tournament. This year was the biggest tournament Tanana has ever hosted totaling over 500 wrestlers and 37 teams from across the state.

Leading the way for your 23 Husky wrestlers were:

6th graders 
Heidi Francis – 6th  97lbs weight class
Kirstyn Passin – 8th 120lbs weight class
Kaden Vanbuskirk – 6th 105lbs weight class
Logan Beck – 3rd 110lbs weight class

7th graders
Merrick Mccumby – 8th 110lbs weight class
Jackson Peltier – 8th 160lbs weight class

8th graders
Tristen Mayer – 3rd 140lbs weight class

As this marks the conclusion of our season I want to say a couple thank you’s. Thank you to all of the parents for your never-ending support and guidance. And thank you to Austin Rake, Cody Greene, Taylor Ellerman, and John Groundwater for your time and effort you put into coaching these kids. Overall, this was an awesome season and I am very excited with how much our program has grown, I look forward to working with this group next year. Go Huskies!
