ASAA 2021 All-State Music Festival
Courtesy of VHS Staff – Two students, Alina Kockentiet and Blythe Ditman, were selected to perform in Alaska’s all-state choir this weekend. Of 400 auditions for the choir it says a lot about the hard work of our Valdez students that 2 were selected to participate with 158 other students across the state in this year’s all-state choir performance.

Courtesy of VHS Coaches – The e-sports team just completed its final week of regular season competition.
This week, the Rocket League team secured another win. They will enter the playoffs ranked #5 with a record of 5-2.
Our Madden21 team lost their game this week to Don Bosco Technical Institute in California. However, they will qualify for the playoffs with the #5 seed and a record of 5-2.
Our Smash Ultimate team was forced to forfeit both matches this week. They end the season with a record of 3-4 and do not qualify for a playoff spot.
Playoffs for Rocket League will begin on Monday, Nov. 29th. The Madden21 team will play their first playoff match on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Lancer Smith Wrestling Tournament
Courtesy of VHS Coaches –Buccaneer wrestling returned to the mats this weekend at the annual Lancer Smith Memorial Invitational where the bucs faced their toughest competition of the year. The Buc’s lone placer was senior Alyvia Askren-Weber, placing 6th at 189 pounds in the girls division, where she made the semi-finals before injury defaulting to 6th place. See below for results.
