Valdez Buccaneer Swimming
2021 ASAA State Swimming Championship

Courtesy of Coach Carl Young – The Valdez Buccaneer State Swimmers had a marvelous time in Anchorage swimming at Bartlett High School for the State Championship Swim Meet. There were many highlights including having the opportunity to watch Alaskan Olympian Lydia Jacoby swim in the State Competition.

Valdez Buccaneer and Freshman Kinsey Mishmash held her own in the Preliminary Round of the Meet setting a new Personal Best Time of 1:11.81 in her 100 Breaststroke placing 13th overall in the state. Billi Lovell a Junior Qualifier gave it her all having made it to state in both individual events. Billi set a New Personal Best time of 1:01.52 in her 100 Backstroke placing 10th and also placing 11th in her 100 Freestyle Overall in the state. Fisher Mishmash had a wonderful end to his junior swim season re-breaking the 50 Freestyle Record that he set at regions with a time of 22.51. Fisher Also qualified for the Final Round of the State Swimming Competition placing 7th overall in the state!

Amazing work by all our State Swimmers! This has been a very positive season for the Buccaneer Swim Team. Valdez Swimmers work hard and swim well. I look forward to seeing the progress in the season to come!

Thank You,

Coach Carl Young

Varsity Volleyball

Aurora Conference Volleyball Championships

Courtesy of VHS Coaches – This weekend, the varsity volleyball team competed at regionals in Fairbanks. Their first game was on Friday morning against Delta. The match was a quick and easy win for the girls ending 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, and 25-16). Later that night the girls played a great game against Eielson, winning 3-0 again (25-13, 25-23, and 25-17). This put them seeded first and in the championship game on Saturday.

The championship game was all-around the best game the girls have played this year. They were so scrappy and kept composure throughout every rally. They also successfully executed every play they ran that match. The girls won 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23)! They will be representing the Aurora Conference at State next weekend!

The first game will be against Homer at 10am on Thursday at the Alaska Airlines Center.
