Our GMS Valdez Husky Volleyball team had the pleasure of hosting games this weekend against the Glennallen Panthers, who due to a small roster only brought one team to play all of our teams.

This week at practice, A team worked hard to learn a new rotation. The results of this weekend’s games proved that their hard work paid off as they finished the weekend with wins for both of their matches against the Panthers with scores of 25-6, 25-22 on Friday and 25-6, 25-10 on Saturday. Coach Craig is impressed with A team’s ability to master the new rotation so quickly and is excited about the possibilities it will bring the team having Destiny Day set all the way around and several talented hitters at the ready.

B team’s Coach Anderson reported that “The B team has continued to work on their serving and defense this past week at practice. They are showing great progress in both and it showed this weekend in their games against Glennallen. They won both of their matches. The first one they won in three games and the second they won in two.”

“C team came out ready to play against a strong serving team from Glennallen. The Huskies kept pace with passing and serving, but ultimately falling 22-25, 25-27 on Friday.  Saturday, the Huskies came out with a new lineup and were able to take the panthers to 3 games, with scores of 13-25, 25-19, 7-15 all while mastering the rotations.” -Coach Fuschetto & Coach Christensen

Next weekend the Huskies look forward to hosting their last home games of the season against the Tok Wolverines.

The Glennallen middle school travelled to Valdez to play the Valdez Huskies last Friday and Saturday. While GMS has more than 30 players divided into three different teams, the Panthers have just six girls on the roster. Despite their small number, the six Glennallen players competed against the GMS C Team, then the GMS B Team and then the Girls A Team. And that was just Friday night. They did it all again on Saturday. Despite the number of games, the Panthers gave the Huskies some good plays and games. The GMS Huskies will play Tok at home this weekend.
