The draft Valdez City Schools Smart Start Reentry Plan information is available on the COVID-19 section of the VCS website. Superintendent Shawn Arnold is accepting input on the proposed plan via the VCS Reentry Plan Feedback Form. VCS is encouraging public input and plan details will be available as they emerge.
Parents and guardians are being asked to complete the on-line Returning Student Registration form for each student. This form is available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal and is for all Valdez City Schools students. Parents and guardians will receive a separate school choice survey this week and changes to school enrollment can be made. School choice options are traditional in-person school, VCS at Home Program, and Valdez Homeschool Program. VCS is asking everyone to review student contact information and school forms with the on-line registration process.
New students can be registered with the VCS New Student Registration Form.
VCS is currently on track to open school in Phase 1 of the proposed VCS Gating Plan with students returning to school on August 18th.

July 22 – VCS School Choice Survey emailed to parents and guardians
July 27 – VCS Smart Start Reentry Plan to be adopted by the Board of Education
August 3-7 – VCS Child Find
August 3-5 – GMS on-campus student registration
August 10-13 – VHS on-campus student registration
August 18 – First day of school for students in grades 1 – 12
August 25 – First day of school for Preschool and Kindergarten students
