VHS Sports Wrap Up – Sept. 18, 2017

Volleyball – (Coach Langseth)

Valdez Invite

The Lady Bucs Volleyball Teams Had a great weekend of Volleyball here at home during their home Invitational.  The Varsity Battled through Friday’s day long round robin with one defeat from Grace Christian.  Throughout the day the team battled with consistency, but held firm and continued to battle.  The Ladies finished Friday with 6 wins and one loss.  This allowed the team to play in the Gold Division pool.  Again the Ladies battled consistency, but earned the right to play for the Championship Saturday afternoon against a strong Grace Christian Team.  In the Championship game, there was no question the Bucs were the team to beat, coming out with strong serving and an aggressive hitting game.  The Bucs finished the Grace team winning two games to none in front of a spirited home town crowd.

Sydney Johnson drives a hit home during the VHS Volleyball Tournament. Johnson was named to the All-Tournament team along with Carlee Fleming and Kaylee MacDonald. Jillian Fleming was named to the Silver Division All-Tournament team and Rylie King was named to All-Tournament for the Bronze Team.
Making the All Tournament Team were Setter Kaylee MacDonald and Carlee Fleming.  The Tournaments Most Valuable Hitter was our own Sydney Johnson.  Congratulation to all the Lady Bucs for a well played tournament.

Football – (Coach Radotich)

We lost to Houston 36 to 0. The boys played hard, but didn’t match up well against a bigger, more physical Houston team. Kyle Sodergren played well on both offense and defense. Moe Morgan played a great game defensively and Owen Chadwick helped lead the way offensively, Stan Morales anchored the line on both sides of the ball. We moved the ball well offensively, but couldn’t put the ball into the end zone.
