VHS Drama Travels to Anchorage For Competition

This week East Anchorage is hosting the annual Drama, Debate and Forensics Competition. For the first time in the history VHS there will be a group of seven students traveling to participate in the competition. The team will leave Wednesday after school for the competition which is scheduled to be held on Thursday, February 23rd through Saturday, February 25th. The VHS students will be competing in two different categories: Reader’s Theater and Duet Acting. In the Reader’s Theater category, VHS is presenting a cutting from the play Squad Goals by Don Zolidas.  Students participating are Caleb Balowski, Gabby Franklin, Rylie Hoppe, Hunter Hoppe, Nadia Whaley, Tiffany Larcom, and Ashlee Shaeffer. In the Duet Acting category Caleb Balowski and Gabby Franklin will present a scene from Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park and Tiffany Larcom and Ashlee Schaeffer will present a cutting from the play The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.
