Lady Bucs Earn 2nd in Home Tournament

Coach Ronal Langseth (09-19-16) – For the second weekend in a row, the Lady Bucs entered tournament play.  Last week the Bucs competed at the 4A West Valley Invitational were they competed not only with the best 3A Competition, but some very competitive 4A Schools.  On their way to the championship game at West Valley, the ladies toppled many 4A Schools, including Colony, Lathrope, West Anchorage, and North Pole.  In the semifinals, the ladies again met the hard hitting North Pole team, where the ladies won in three.  Minutes after the ladies returned to the court to face West Anchorage who they had beaten on Friday.  In the end the ladies feel short, earning second to West Anchorage.  Bobbi Mott was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

This past weekend, the Lady Bucs hosted the own Valdez Invitational Tournament.  Round robin play began on Friday and the ladies ended day one seeded second.  On Saturday, teams were divided into a gold and silver division based on day one performances.  The Varsity entered the day topping Barrow and Bethel, then faced North Pole in the Championship match.  The Ladies started off strong and dominated the first set 25-13.  The second set went to North Pole 25-20.  The third set went to North Pole as they earned the Championship.  The ladies continue to improve and prove they are a team to watch.  Jane Sharrai, Bobbi Mott, Linnea Langseth and Kaylee MacDonald made the all-tournament team, and Kaylee MacDonald was name Most Valuable Setter while Linnea Langseth was selected defensive specialist.

The Ladies next face Monroe in Fairbanks.
