On Mar 2 at 10:59 pm EMS personnel transported a male patient to the Gulkana airport for a medevac flight to Anchorage. The weather in Valdez was snow and blowing conditions with conditions below standards for the flight to land. Crews along with a nurse from Providence Valdez Medical Center completed the transport with the patient stable.
 
On Mar 3 at 5:51 am hazmat personnel responded to ammonia smell around the SERVs facility. Crews investigated the area and found the odor coming from the Silver Bay fish processing plant. A watchman noticed our investigation going and came over to explain that the crews had been doing maintenance on the facility and had removed an evaporator and the oils were saturated with the ammonia. A later check of the facility in the morning found the crew had cleaned the oils up and had disposed of them properly. The odor had dissipated and the crew returned to quarters.
 
On Mar 4 at 1:46 pm EMS responded to a female having a diabetic seizure. The patient was treated on scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center for further treatment.
 
On Mar 4 at 5:00 pm Fire and hazmat personnel responded to Robe River for a propane smell. On arrival crews evacuated the owners from the trailer and secured the propane tank and power. The building was ventilated to reduce the levels of propane in the facility. The crew then isolated the leak to the piping along the building. Crews dug the 6 feet of snow off the line and located the leak. The owner will replace the faulty section. The house was checked again and cleared of gases.
 
On Mar 4 at 6:44 pm EMS responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident on the Richardson Highway. A report of a roll over occurred due to icy conditions. Crews found a lone occupant without injuries. She had worn her seat belt which protected her from injuries. Crews returned to quarters no injuries were reported.
 
On Mar 6 at 6:14 pm EMS personnel assisted the medevac team move a patient from Providence Valdez Medical Center to the airport for a flight to Anchorage for further treatment.

3/1/10
 
SUMMONS: Michael B. Anderson, DOB 11/04/1974 of Valdez, was summonsed for failure to stop for a school bus.
 
A dog was surrendered to the Animal Shelter. If you are interested in adding a pet to your family, consider adoption and contact your local Animal Shelter.
 
A large bin was reported to be causing a traffic hazard on airport road. The bin was removed from the roadway prior to officer arrival.
 
3/2/10
 
A purse was found and turned into the Police Department. The owner was contacted and purse was returned.
 
A fight was reported between two juveniles. Both parties were apprehended and case was forwarded to the JPO.
 
A suspicious person was reported casing a vehicle. Officers were unable to locate said person or the vehicle they were driving.
 
ARRESTED: Thomas C. Watson, DOB: 10/15/1981 of Valdez, on a 500.00 Valdez warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation. Original charges are reckless endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
 
3/3/10
 
Several vehicle owners were contacted and warned about parking on the streets and impeding the snow removal.
 
 
 
3/4/10
 
A call was made to the police department in regards to throwing food to feed the birds. Subject was advised that feeding the birds was not considered littering and that there are no city ordinances or laws prohibiting bird feeding in the area.
A vehicle was reported in the ditch on the Richardson hwy. Nobody in the vehicle was reported injured the vehicle was later removed from the ditch with no further incidences.
 
A single motor vehicle accident was reported on the Richardson Hwy. EMS were dispatched to the scene. Officers assisted in controlling traffic as vehicle was towed from the area.
 
A blackberry cellular telephone was reported stolen from an individual’s jacket at Prince William Sound Community College. The phone has not yet been recovered and this case is currently under investigation. If you have any information please contact the Valdez Police Department.
 
A noise disturbance was reported coming from an adjacent apartment. Two subjects were contacted and warned for disorderly conduct. There were no further incidences reported.
 
3/5/10
 
A mail truck was reported in the ditch and partially impeding traffic at 20 mile on the Richardson Hwy. DOT was contacted and they assisted the truck out of the ditch.
 
A black wallet with a buckle containing money was reported lost in the Valdez area. If found please return to the Valdez Police Department.
 
A non-residential burglary was reported after a city building had been broken into and several items were taken. This case is currently under investigation. If you have any information regarding this case contact the Valdez Police Department.
 
A domestic dispute was reported between two subjects. Officers contacted both parties and they were separated for the evening with no further incidents.
 
Several vehicle owners were contacted and or cited for parking on the streets and impeding snow removal.
 
3/6/10
 
A domestic dispute was reported. All parties were contacted and separated for the evening without further incidences.
 
Several snow machine related banners and posters were found on the highway and brought to the police department. Please contact the Valdez Police Department for further descriptors.
 
Vehicles were reported impeding traffic and snow removal at 20 mile on the Richardson Hwy. The vehicles had been moved prior to officer arrival. No further incidences.
 
3/7/10
 
A knife/money clip was found containing money and turned into the Police Department’s found property. Please contact the Valdez Police Department for further descriptors.
 
A vehicle was reported impeding traffic and mile 9 on the Richardson Hwy. The subject was cited for parking on the Highway. No further incidences.
